Mario is wonderful. I have all of his cds and DVDs.
Have you watched Sometimes I Dream? It is magical! Perhaps it is in your library. Besides SID(Sometimes I Dream) my very favorite is O Kipos Ton Efhon. It is all in Greek and although I do not speak Greek, his voice and the music, fill me with joy!

Fernando is also a wonderful counter tenor and saxophonist. One of my favorite songs in Fernando's cd is AZUL. Did you get to meet them after the concert? They are really nice guys.

This is the best blog site I've seen by an individual! This should be a model for others.

I particularly enjoy the pictures, though the narrative is highly informative as well.

Keep it up, Carl!

Dear Steve,
My budget was so rediculously low that a compact rental of $70/day was out of my range. There are plenty things to do around the resort but I think you should rent a car for at least two days. The bus tour, despite a 10 hours trip, feeled very rushed and the only place that we had time to soak in the paradise was the volcano crater park. With the car, you can also visit the few white sand beaches on the Big Island. When I was there in May, all of the cars had to be reserved at least 4 to 5 days ahead. Even if I could afford a car, I was not able to rent one anyway. I wish you and your family will have a great time. It is beautiful. Last note - the Kona Coffees at the convennient store at the King's Shop was cheaper than the one at the coffee plantation we went to as part of our bus tour.

Thank you very much for your blog about your trip to Hilton Waikoloa Resort. We are going there in a few months. I have read many reviews of the place and everyone complains about the very expensive restaurants, but you are the first to explain how to get around this problem. We are going on a shoe string as you did. We are only able to go because we have saved up airline miles and Hilton points over a long period, so that the flight and room are free!!!

We are staying for 6 days. Do you think that we could get by without a car as you did and just take the bus tour to get a good feel for the island? Or would it be better to rent a car? Parking is $9/day! What a rip-off! Maybe a car for a couple of days? Anyway, your opinions would be appreciated.

Haven't looked at your pictures yet, but will soon. Thanks agan. Steve
